MedCanvas Psychiatry is now open in Minot. We’re here to provide psychiatric medication management for people across North Dakota who’ve been struggling to find care.
Filling a Real Need
Finding a psychiatrist in North Dakota has always been difficult. Limited providers, long waitlists, and hours of driving. Many people give up or settle for care that doesn’t quite fit.
We started MedCanvas Psychiatry because this area needs more options.
Diana Arrah leads our practice as a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with years of experience throughout the state.
What We Do
Our focus is psychiatric medication management.
We help people dealing with depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other mental health conditions that benefit from medication.
We see patients ages 6 through 70. Whether you’re seeking help for your child or yourself, we can work with you.
Here’s what our services include:
- Complete psychiatric evaluations
- Medication prescribing and monitoring
- Regular follow-ups to track progress
- Dose adjustments based on your response
- Medication changes when needed
Your First Visit
The first appointment is more time-consuming due to the necessity of knowing your overall picture.
Diana will enquire about your symptoms, medical history, what treatments have been done in the past, as well as what you hope to accomplish.
Out of there, we will talk about medication options in case they are appropriate in your case. We discuss the mechanisms of action of drugs, their side effects, and realistic plans of improvement.
The initial appointments are more regular, but after the situation normalizes, the appointments become spaced out. During these visits, we check:
- Whether your medication is helping
- Any side effects you’re experiencing
- If doses need adjusting
- Changes in your symptoms or life circumstances
Treatment takes time and patience. We stick with you through the process of finding what works.
Who We Help
We work with people at different points in their mental health journey. Some are just starting treatment. Others have been managing their conditions for years but need a new provider.
You might benefit from calling us if:
- You’ve been putting off getting psychiatric help
- Your current medications aren’t working well
- Side effects are making your life harder
- Your previous psychiatrist left the area
- Your primary doctor suggested seeing a specialist
- You need medication adjustments but can’t get appointments
You don’t need to be in crisis. Many of our patients function day-to-day but know they’d feel better with proper medication management.

Mental health benefits differ across plans so it is better to check in advance.
